Appliqued pillows!

We got a new (to us) couch for the playroom. It's blue so we wanted to "Girly" it up a little. I made some purple and pink pillows complete with the letters of her name appliqued on them. Unfortunately I didn't have enough fabric for the "LEY" so it's just "BRIN." I think they are a perfect touch!

The long and short of it....

I was so bummed when I put one of my daughters monogrammed dresses on her from this fall only to find out that she's out grown it! The sleeves were too short and it was definitely not long enough to be considered a dress anymore. So I decided to do a little altering....I turned the long sleeves I. To short sleeves. Now she can wear them as tops with some capris or shorts this summer!! Yay for making the most out of a wardrobe!!

I followed a couple tutorials to help guide me thru this. I did change a few things up though. I added two layers or fabric on each flutter sleeve on the black dress to make it more "puffy." And on the other two dresses, instead of making a new hemmed cuff for the bottom of the sleeve, I just cut the original cuff off of the long sleeve and reattached it after I cut the sleeve to the the length I wanted.

Tank dresses!

I got the idea from Pinterest to turn a inexpensive consignment sale tank top/shirt in to some cute new summer dresses. I've done six of them now and had so much fun making them.

Here's a link to the tutorial I used:
Dress Tutorial

Before: Scrap fabric and $1 consignment tank

After: New princess dress for my little princess!! I made a flower out of the fabric I cut off the bottom of the tank

Before: Scrap Fabric and $1 consignment tank

After: I added the heart applique to the tank and a ribbon around the waist for a little extra pizazz

After: The back with the ribbon tied. I added a couple of thick embroidery thread loops on the side seams and that is what I thread the ribbon through

Before: $1 Consignment sale tshirt and scrap fabric. The tshirt had a stain on it, but after I trimmed some of the bottom and added the monogram, you can barely notice it anymore.
After: A fancy new monogrammed dress for my baby girl!

After: The back of the dress. It's hard to see from the picture, but I used some of the leftover fabric from the skirt to make a sash/belt to tie around the waist. I attached it with a basic stitch at both side seams

Before:  $1 goodwill tank and scrap tshirt fabric

After: (Excuse the blurry photo) I made a tiered skirt for this one and added a couple of bows to the top of the tank to make it look a little more girly

Before: $.97 Tank off the Clearance rack at Old Navy, scrap fabric, and decorative trim

After: A cute little dress for this summer!

Before: Another $1 Consignment sale tank and scrap fabric

After: I love this one becasuse of how bright and colorful the fabric is!!

Well that's it! I hope you enjoyed looking at my altered tank dresses!
